‘A Shared Condition’ explores identity, memory and emotion

Alliance Française de Dhaka and ARTCON have inaugurated the first solo exhibition and collective by artist Mubtasim Alvee. Titled “A Shared Condition”, the exhibition opened on May 8 and runs until May 16. It is curated by artist Mustafa Zaman and is held at Alliance Française de Dhaka in Dhanmondi.

The exhibition presents around 100 works created between 2024 and 2026. The works span acrylic, spray, pastel, prints, and digital media. Alvee’s practice is rooted in the concept of Pareidolia, which is the human tendency to find figures and meaning within abstraction. Through this approach, forms are not imposed but discovered, allowing images to surface organically from within layers of chaos and texture.

Alvee is currently pursuing his MFA in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. He is the founder of Syllabaad Collective and the Charukola Animation Society, both of which promote collaborative learning and interdisciplinary exchange. "A Shared Condition" also expands into a participatory platform. The programme includes panel discussions, workshops, interactive audio-visuals, film screenings, musical events, and theatre performances.

The exhibition and collaborative programmes are supported by Bhabachakra, Syllabaad Collective, Charukola Animation Society, Dhaka Comics, Cartoon People, Tickify, Elaka Studios Ltd, Footprint Film Production, Siliconinja, and Street Spirits.

The exhibition is open daily from 2 pm to 8 pm.
