Sujit Mustafa and Munmun Ahmed set for joint stage debut

Veteran singer Sujit Mustafa and dancer Munmun Ahmed are set to perform together on stage for the first time, more than three decades after their marriage.

The programme, titled “An Evening of Music and Dance”, is scheduled for May 15 at InterContinental Dhaka. The event is being organised by the Artist Club, according to organisers.

Married since 1993, the two have built parallel careers in music and dance but have not previously appeared together as co-performers. Munmun Ahmed said the idea grew from audience interest in seeing a joint presentation. “We understand each other well. This kind of collaboration can create a distinct stage experience,” she said.

She described the collaboration as both demanding and rewarding. “Sujit is an accomplished artiste. Performing with him is a challenge, but also a source of inspiration.”

The two-hour event will feature Mustafa performing solo for most of the evening, including original songs, popular numbers and compositions written by his father, Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal. Two segments will combine live singing with Munmun Ahmed’s dance, alongside a solo performance by her.

Organisers said tickets are priced at Tk 5,000. Both artistes have remained active for decades, making the event a rare joint appearance.
