Odd Signature to launch debut album ‘Jogotmoncho’
Bangladeshi band Odd Signature is set to unveil its first album “Jogotmoncho” at a solo concert in Chattogram on May 15.
Formed in 2017, the band gained popularity among younger audiences with narrative-driven songs such as “Mond”, “Dushshopno”, “Hok Abar”, “Ghum” and “Tumio Paro”. However, their journey was disrupted in 2024 following a road accident in Sylhet that claimed the life of vocalist Piyal and left several members injured.
After nearly a year-long hiatus, the band returned in May last year with the title track of the album and later staged a comeback concert in August. Since then, they have resumed performing and producing new music.
The upcoming concert, to be held at the Engineers Institute in Chattogram, is being organised by Takeout. Content creator Antik Mahmud will attend as a special guest. The show is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm, with tickets priced at Tk 500, available from May 5.
The album will be released in an NFC-enabled CD format, and the band will perform all tracks live at the event. They will also share details on how audiences can access the album.
In a creative extension of the project, a comic inspired by the album’s stories has been developed by Antik Mahmud and his team, blending music, storytelling and visual art.
Band member Arnam Amitabh said the album represents a long journey marked by both achievements and loss. He added that launching it in Chattogram holds special significance, as all members of the band grew up in the city.
The band is also planning to organise similar concerts in other divisional cities.
