Taylor Swift’s ‘Toy Story 5’ song breaks global streaming records
Taylor Swift has set new streaming milestones across major music platforms with her latest single “I Knew It, I Knew You”, released as part of the soundtrack for “Toy Story 5”.
The song, which debuted on streaming services on Friday, quickly broke records on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
According to Spotify, “I Knew It, I Knew You” became the most-streamed country song by a female artiste in a single day in the platform’s history.
Apple Music reported that the track achieved the biggest first-day streaming debut for a soundtrack single in the platform’s history. It also became Apple Music’s most-streamed country song of 2026 so far.
Meanwhile, Amazon Music said the song recorded the largest 24-hour streaming debut for any song globally on the platform this year.
The track is set to feature prominently in “Toy Story 5”, which is scheduled for theatrical release on June 19.
Swift also unveiled an accompanying music video on Friday. The video hints at the song’s connection to the beloved character Jessie while offering glimpses of her relationships with Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
The video concludes with a young red-haired girl resembling Jessie playing with the cowgirl doll on a tyre swing before falling into a pile of leaves. Portions of the footage appear to include scenes from the upcoming film.
“I Knew It, I Knew You” also marks a return to country music for Swift, who began her career in the genre before becoming one of pop music’s biggest global stars.
Speaking about the song on Instagram, Swift said the project held special meaning for her.
“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” she wrote. “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.”
The singer also reflected on her long-standing connection to the franchise.
“Being a ‘Toy Story’ kid from the age of 5 until now is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond,” she added.
The success of “I Knew It, I Knew You” continues Swift’s remarkable run on streaming platforms and adds further anticipation to the release of “Toy Story 5” later this month.
