Prangone Mor returns to National Theatre Hall after two years
After nearly two years, theatre troupe Prangone Mor is set to return to the National Theatre Hall at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, marking a significant homecoming for the group.
The troupe will stage two of its acclaimed productions—“Shesher Kobita” and “Tiner Talowar”—over three consecutive days from May 1 to May 3. Each show will begin at 7:00pm at the academy’s main auditorium.

Despite the gap at the National Theatre Hall, Prangone Mor continued regular performances at the Mohila Samity Auditorium on Bailey Road. The return to the national stage—widely regarded as the centre of theatre practice in Bangladesh—carries both symbolic and professional weight.
According to troupe leader and actor Ananta Hira, the opening night on May 1 will feature “Shesher Kobita”, adapted from the novel by Rabindranath Tagore. The stage adaptation has been done by Ananta Hira, while direction is by Nuna Afroz.
The production revisits Tagore’s text through a renewed visual and conceptual approach.

The cast includes Ananta Hira, Nuna Afroz, Yusuf Russell, Sahed Sardar, Gulshan Bohni, Badhan Sarkar, Nasrin Mishu, Tama Hossain, Simanta Amin, Tanvi Islam Mishti, Fahim Muntasir, and Naim Islam, among others.
On May 2 and 3, the troupe will stage “Tiner Talowar”, written by Utpal Dutt and directed by Ananta Hira.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century Bengali theatre, the play reflects on artistic struggle and institutional control, themes that continue to resonate in contemporary theatre practice.

The ensemble for “Tiner Talowar” includes Ananta Hira, Sabuktageen Shuvo, Simanta Amin, Mashiur Rahman, Sujoy Gupta, Shishir Chowdhury, Mofazzal Hossain, Badhan Sarkar, Sahed Sardar, Gulshan Bohni, Nirjhar, Tama Hossain, Fahim Muntasir, Nazim Ahmed, Zahirul Islam, and Tanni Islam.
The three-day run marks not just a return to a major venue, but a renewed engagement with audiences at one of the country’s most significant cultural stages.
