Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s wife, Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter, Zaima Rahman, shared iftar with orphaned female students at a madrasa on Thursday, the first day of Ramadan.

They joined the students of Jamia Qurbaniya Talimia Dawra Hadith Women’s Madrasa and Orphanage in West Bhashantek, said BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan.

Tarique represents the Dhaka-17 seat in the parliament. In the constituency, the local unit of BNP has arranged iftar, dinner and sehri throughout Ramadan for 14 orphanages and Hafezia madrasas in Korail slum and Bhashantek.

Before iftar, Zubaida and Zaima spoke with the students and enquired about their well-being.

Traditionally, the late BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and central party leaders used to hold an iftar programme with orphans and Islamic scholars on the first day of Ramadan.
