Mimi Chakraborty to star in Raj Chakraborty's next production

There has been no shortage of discussion surrounding the comeback of Dev and Shubhashree Ganguly as a pair in Kolkata cinema. Their upcoming film “DeSu7” has already generated interest, largely because the two actors are returning to the screen together after their much-publicised past relationship.

Amid the buzz, another reunion involving former partners has come to light. Shubhashree's husband, filmmaker-producer Raj Chakraborty, is set to work with his former girlfriend Mimi Chakraborty after 11 years. This time, however, Raj will be involved as the producer rather than the director.

According to Hindustan Times, Mimi will star in a special project for the OTT platform ZEE5, which will be produced under Raj Chakraborty's production banner.

Raj previously directed “Bojhena Shey Bojhena”, which became a turning point in Mimi Chakraborty's career. The two later worked together on “Yoddha” and the 2015 film “Khawto”. Their romantic relationship reportedly began while working together.

However, their relationship did not have a happy ending. Raj later married actress Shubhashree Ganguly. At the time, reports also emerged that Mimi had attempted suicide by taking sleeping pills following the breakup.

Recently, Raj Chakraborty's production house approached Mimi for a survival thriller centred on a female protagonist. The film will be directed by Ayan Chakraborty.

Mimi, who last appeared in the film “Toofan”, has reportedly said that shooting for the project is expected to begin towards the end of this month, provided everything goes as planned.

The news has already sparked speculation in Tollywood, with some wondering whether Raj's decision to produce a film starring Mimi has anything to do with Shubhashree's upcoming reunion with her former partner Dev.

Others have speculated that the project could be a deliberate move by Raj in response to Shubhashree's professional reunion with Dev. However, there has been no confirmation from Raj or Mimi that their new collaboration is connected to either of their past relationships.

For now, the professional reunion between Raj and Mimi, after more than a decade, has added another layer of intrigue to Tollywood's current wave of reunions.
