Owen Cooper continues award-winning run at BAFTA TV Awards 2026
Owen Cooper added another major accolade to his growing list of achievements after winning the Supporting Actor award at the BAFTA TV Awards 2026, held in London on May 10.
The 16-year-old actor was recognised for his performance in the Netflix limited series “Adolescence”, where he portrayed Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy involved in a tragic incident with a classmate. The role has already earned Cooper several international honours, including Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, Gotham, and Independent Spirit awards.
At this year’s ceremony, “Adolescence” and comedy series “Amandaland” emerged among the evening’s major winners. The Netflix series had also won two awards at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards last month. Co-stars Stephen Graham and Christine Tremarco, who portrayed Jamie’s parents, were also recognised.
Hosted by Greg Davies, the ceremony was attended by stars including Adam Scott, Seth Rogen, and comedian Alan Carr.
Veteran television personality Mary Berry received the BAFTA Fellowship for her contribution to television, while journalist Martin Lewis was honoured with the BAFTA Television Special Award for his impact on public life and consumer awareness.
Meanwhile, Narges Rashidi secured a surprise win in the Leading Actress category for “Prisoner 951”. Audience voting also recognised Alan Carr’s win in the first season of “The Celebrity Traitors UK”, whose second season is currently in production in the Scottish Highlands.
