The FIFA World Cup 2026 has announced that Hollywood star Tom Cruise will join the lineup for its highly anticipated pre-match closing ceremony.

Set to take place ahead of the final at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19, the ceremony will honour the journey of the tournament’s 48 participating nations across three host countries and 16 host cities.

The “Top Gun” actor will make a special appearance alongside a roster of international entertainers, including Italian singer-songwriter Laura Pausini, Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger, British singer Robbie Williams, and popular YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed.

Award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson, an EGOT recipient, will perform a special rendition of the US national anthem before the final kicks off.
FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Operating Officer Heimo Schirgi said the closing ceremony is designed to reflect the energy and spirit of the opening celebrations that welcomed supporters to Canada, Mexico and the United States. He added that the event will blend music, culture and football in a celebration marking the end of the tournament before the championship match crowns the new world champions.

The ceremony will begin 90 minutes before kickoff, starting at 1:30 pm on Sunday.

Earlier this month, FIFA also revealed that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber will perform at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show.

Bieber will take the stage alongside global superstars Madonna, Shakira and BTS as part of the tournament’s first-ever halftime show, bringing together some of the biggest names in music and entertainment.

Nigerian singer Burna Boy is also scheduled to appear during the 11-minute televised spectacle, joined by acclaimed Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Webby Award-winning PS 22 Chorus, accompanied by Coldplay.
