What to watch on TV this Rabindra Jayanti

Today marks the 25th of Baishakh, the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. To celebrate Rabindra Jayanti, television channels across Bangladesh have arranged special programmes featuring dramas, music, recitations, and documentaries inspired by the poet’s works and legacy.


On BTV, a special children’s programme will air at 9:00am, followed by the Rabindra Sangeet programme “Gitabitan” at 10:05am. A special poetry recitation programme will be broadcast at 6:00pm, while a special feature presentation will air at 7:00pm. At 9:00pm, viewers can watch the drama “Sampatti Samarpan”, based on a story by Tagore. Another Rabindra Sangeet special featuring nine popular songs by a group of artistes will air after the 10:00pm news bulletin. The dance drama “Chitrangada” will be shown at 11:00pm.


On Channel i, a special edition of “Tritiyo Matra” titled “Rabindranath: Generation to Generation” will air at 9:45am, hosted by Faridur Reza Sagar. Guests include Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Deepti Chowdhury, and Nusrat Sayem. Arun Chowdhury’s telefilm “Strir Chithi”, based on a Tagore story, will air at 3:05pm, starring Samia Othoi, Arefin Jilani, Nur Alam Nayan, Suchona Sikder, and Bimal Banerjee.
 

At 6:00pm, viewers can watch “Dartingtone Rabindranath”, a special documentary report planned, directed, and presented by Shaikh Siraj. This will be followed at 6:20pm by the musical programme “Asha Purao Tumi Esho Kachhe”, directed by Sohel Rana and performed by Rezwana Choudhury Bannya.
 

On Deepto TV, the live music programme “Deepto Probhati” will air at 8:00am featuring Swapnil Sajib and Samiul Islam.


Meanwhile, Duronto TV will broadcast the children’s programme “Tasher Desh” at 7:00am. The dance programme “Momo Chitte Niti Nritye” will air at 9:00am, while “Megher Kole Rod Heseche”, featuring Tagore songs, will be shown at 9:30am and again at 4:30pm. At 10:00pm, the channel will air the short films “Madho” and “Dakghar”.
