Woman reflects on Salman Khan's support during two heart transplants

Salman Khan has extended support to numerous people through his Being Human foundation, which has been backing healthcare and education efforts since 2007. Among those helped is Reena Raju from Karnataka, who has undergone two heart transplants. She recently shared how the actor stood by her during one of the most challenging periods of her life.

During a recent conversation, Reena reflected on Salman Khan’s support as she looked back on her long-standing connection with him. Speaking to RJ Sowjanya on the Voice of Bengaluru podcast, she said, “First of all, let me say, I love him with all my three hearts and my soul.”

Recalling her first interaction with Salman Khan, she shared that she had his contact when she was unwell and preparing for her first heart transplant. Despite his superstar status, he responded without delay. She mentioned informing him about her situation while he was in Australia for a shoot, and he called on the night of her surgery, speaking with them for nearly two hours. She added that he showed great kindness toward her family and motivated her to go ahead with the procedure.

Reena added that, while she isn’t in constant contact with Salman Khan, he remembered her when she reached out two years later to share that she had embarked on a new chapter in her life.

She later launched her own foundation, Light a Life, and mentioned that Salman Khan has always been both protective and encouraging toward her.

Reena underwent her second heart transplant in 2018, which also marked her first in-person meeting with Salman Khan at his Mumbai residence. Looking back on the encounter, she said what was supposed to be a brief visit turned into a memorable experience. “He radiates kindness. We spent the entire night at his home, singing and dancing,” she recalled.

She shared, “Four months after my second transplant, I was dealing with diabetes and various health issues, yet I was enjoying life. He took us to the sets of ‘Race 3’, and we spent the entire day there. He even gifted me a white Being Human bicycle, remembering that I had mentioned it to him long ago.”
