A$AP Rocky arrested in Los Angeles in connection with 2021 shooting
Police arrested A$AP Rocky at the Los Angeles airport in connection with a November 2021 shooting, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed in a statement.
The rapper, who was named as a suspect in the shooting, was returning from a trip in Barbados with singer Rihanna, his girlfriend who is pregnant with the couple's first child, when officers detained him at the Los Angeles International Airport before arresting him for "assault with a deadly weapon."
He was later released from custody on Wednesday after posting bail of $550,000, according to reports.
Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, had been part of an ongoing investigation into a shooting in which an argument escalated and "resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim," according to the tweeted statement from the LAPD. The victim, according to police, received medical attention sustaining only minor injuries. Police say Rocky and two other men fled the scene on foot.
A$AP Rocky has been detained in Los Angeles after police are investigating his connection to a November shooting.
"Detectives worked diligently to investigate and corroborate the reporting information which helped identify the suspect(s) involved," police said in the statement.
