"Ballad of Bashir Saheb" is an incredibly catchy blues number by debutants D Block Band, composed of long-time friends who are successful in different spheres of life.

The band consists of Shahtub Siddique Anik and Saumi Islam as lyricist and vocalist, Tito Rashid on guitars, Abhijit Majumder and Walid Rahi on drums and Sharif M Shafique on bass.

"The name D Block was derived from the times we used to banger on Tito Rashid's rooftop on Mirpur 1, D Block," says Shahtub Siddique Anik, who wrote and tuned "Ballad of Bashir Saheb". "We eventually started working on original music."

For "Ballad of Bashir Saheb", all the instruments were recorded acoustically, at Acoustic Artz Studio. The drums were recorded in Japan, as Abhijit Majumder currently resides there. "We were worried about the mix, since we took the extra hassle of recording the guitars acoustically as well," says Anik. "However, the solos really shone through and we are very happy with it." The mixing and mastering of the song has been done by Chirls Chowdhury.

The lyric video and artwork of the song have been made by Noor Us Safa Anik.

D Block Band's next releases are "Aalo Adharer Gaan" and "Phoenix", the latter of which will be dedicated to the people's fight against Covid-19.

"Ballad of Bashir Saheb" is available on most major streaming platforms, including Soundcloud, Spotify, itunes, Deezer, Amazon Music and YouTube.
