Popular Indian singer Daler Mehndi was arrested today for his 2003 human trafficking case. He has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Patiala Court.

The singer was convicted in the same case with the same punishment in 2018. However, he was later released on bail.

Back in 2013, an FIR was registered at the Sardar Patiala police station, booking the singer under the sections 406, 420, 120B, 465, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Indian Passport Act. His deceased brother Shamsher Singh along with two others, were convicted by the Patiala Police in the same case.

As per reports, Daler promised a number of people that he can send them abroad, especially to the USA and Canada, illegally. He claimed that they could visit other nations as a part of his dance troops and charged them heavily in exchange for this opportunity.

The police have found significant evidence against Daler. They even collected documents in this regard when they raided his Canaught Place office in Delhi.
