Celebrated American singer-songwriter Madonna announced last September that she will be bringing her illustrious career to the big screen. Universal Pictures is developing the project, with Academy Award-winning writer and producer Diablo Cody on co-writing duties.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, she described the process of working on her upcoming biopic as "the most draining, challenging experience" of her life. She further said that remembering her journey as an artiste, her decision to leave Michigan to go to New York, and all the things that happened to her when she was young and naive, often made her want to cry at the end of writing sessions.

The "Material Girl" singer described the film as a "visual autobiography", which details her struggles as an artiste trying to survive in a man's world.

Madonna recently shared an update on Instagram with a series of selfies and one picture of her reading a draft of her script for the upcoming biopic, which she has almost finished writing.

She wrote alongside the post: "Grateful for the success of Madame X, that my script is almost finished, and for the support of my beautiful children!"
