After its release in Australia, Afran Nisho starrer film “Domm”, directed by Redoan Rony, is now heading to the United States. The film, which premiered in local cinemas during Eid-ul-Fitr, continues to gain momentum both at home and abroad.

It has been confirmed that Domm will be released in New York and Los Angeles on April 10, followed by a wider release across the United States and Canada on April 17. The announcement was made by the film’s producer Shahriar Shakil and Raj Hamid of international distribution company Bioscope Films.

Since its domestic release, the film has enjoyed strong audience reception, with many screenings reportedly running to full houses. The sustained demand in Bangladeshi cinemas has paved the way for its international rollout.

According to a statement from the production house, the film will open with premieres in New York and Los Angeles on April 10, where it will run for a week before expanding further. Raj Hamid noted that audiences in North America have played a vital role in revitalising Bangla cinema, adding that “Domm” marks their 53rd international distribution.

Director Redoan Rony expressed optimism about the film’s overseas reception, stating that its story—rooted in a true event and centred on resilience—had strongly resonated with audiences at home. He added that the narrative was crafted to reflect a broader sense of national triumph, and expressed hope that expatriate viewers would connect with it in a similar way. Plans are also underway to release the film in additional countries.

“Domm” marks Rony’s return to feature filmmaking after a decade-long hiatus.

Distributors in the United States believe that the on-screen chemistry between Afran Nisho and Chanchal Chowdhury, alongside Puja Chery, has generated considerable interest among viewers.

The film is produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Limited and Chorki. The screenplay has been written by Redoan Rony, Rabiul Alam Robi, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Al Amin Hasan Nirjhar, and Md Saifullah Riyad.
