Filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel has officially begun shooting “Shojon Badiar Ghat”, a film based on the celebrated poetic work of Polli Kobi (Pastoral Poet) Jasimuddin. Although the project was announced some time ago, filming commenced today in Satpar village in Gopalganj.

The story of “Shojon Badiar Ghat” is set in Shimultoli village on the banks of the Madhumati River, where two communities—Muslim and Hindu—live side by side. Though divided by religion, they share a deep bond of fraternity, and the entire village feels like one extended family.

At the heart of the story are Shojon and Duli, two adolescents from different religious backgrounds. They grow up together as childhood companions and close friends. However, their tender relationship eventually turns into one of separation and sorrow. Conflict erupts in the village, and its tragic consequences fall heavily upon Shojon and Duli. In his timeless narrative poem, Jasimuddin told this story in lyrical verse.

In the film, the role of Shojon is played by Tanay Biswas, while his childhood version is portrayed by Dihan. The cast also includes Radifa Narmine, Shreya Baidya, Chitralekha Guha, Kazi Raju, Amitabh Rajib, Zubayer Zahid, Ahsanul Haque Minu, Swapna Baidya, Shah Alam Dulal and Rezaul Karim Reza, among others.
