‘Dhurandhar’ makes OTT debut on Netflix
After shattering box-office records and securing a spot on the prestigious Top 250 Films of All Time list, “Dhurandhar” has officially premiered on OTT today.
Viewers who missed the film during its theatrical run can now stream it on Netflix.
Shortly after the film premiered on Netflix, a wave of complaints surfaced on social media. Viewers alleged that the streaming platform had muted certain dialogues, censored strong language, and removed nearly 10 minutes of footage from the film.
Angered by these alterations, audiences of Aditya Dhar’s directorial expressed their frustration online, saying they had anticipated an uncut version following its theatrical run. Several also questioned the rationale behind censoring a film that already carries an A certificate.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, “Dhurandhar” was released in cinemas on December 5 last year and went on to become a massive commercial success. The film crossed ₹1,000 crore in gross earnings in India, while its worldwide box-office collection exceeded ₹1,300 crore.
The film follows the story of an Indian intelligence operative sent to Lyari in Pakistan to infiltrate a Baloch criminal syndicate. Ranveer Singh stars as the spy, Hamza Ali Mazari, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, while Akshaye Khanna portrays Rehman Dakait, the leader of the gang. The ensemble cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, the sequel, “Dhurandhar 2”, is slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with Eid. The film will be released in Hindi as well as all South Indian languages and is set to clash at the box office with Geetu Mohandas and Yash’s “Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups”, which is scheduled to arrive on the same day.
