Ranveer Singh’s “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” has made a record-breaking start at the box office, surpassing expectations set by its strong advance ticket sales. Released on March 19, the film earned over Rs 100 crore on its opening day, making it the highest first-day grosser for a Hindi film.

According to Indian media reports, the film’s worldwide earnings exceeded Rs 150 crore on its first day, with the Hindi version alone contributing over Rs 100 crore. This marks the first time a Hindi film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on its opening day, surpassing the previous record held by Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan”, which earned Rs 75 crore.

The original film, released on December 5 last year, ran in theatres for nearly two months and collected around Rs 1,350 crore. Analysts believe the sequel could surpass the earnings of its predecessor.

The film revolves around a covert intelligence mission led by Ajay Sanyal, head of the Intelligence Bureau, to dismantle a Pakistan-based network. The sequel continues from where the first film ended, focusing on Hamza, played by Ranveer Singh, and his journey of revenge, alongside his transformation from an ordinary man.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features a nearly four-hour narrative. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the cast includes R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt.
