‘I have no rivalry with Shakib Khan,’ says Siam Ahmed
Actor Siam Ahmed has said he does not see Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan as a competitor, stressing that his only focus is improving his own work as an actor.
Siam made the remarks while speaking to an Indian media outlet during the final stages of shooting for his upcoming film “Rakkhosh”, directed by Mehedi Hassan Hridoy. The film is currently being shot in Sri Lanka, with Siam starring opposite Kolkata-based actress Susmita Chatterjee.
When asked whether he considers Shakib Khan a rival, Siam dismissed the idea outright. “Shakib bhai has been carrying the Bangladeshi entertainment industry on his shoulders for the past 26 years. Matching that is not easy, and I don’t even try to do so,” he said. “My only goal is to do my own work properly.”
Addressing the prospect of releasing his film alongside Shakib Khan’s movies during Eid, Siam described it as a matter of pride rather than competition. “Eid is our biggest festival, when the best films are released. If my film finds a place alongside Shakib bhai’s work, that itself is an achievement for me,” he said, adding that his real competition is with himself—how much he can grow and how audiences respond to his new work.
“Rakkhosh” marks Susmita Chatterjee’s first appearance in a Bangladeshi film. She will be seen portraying a modern woman from an affluent background. The film explores a dark, violent underworld and promises a raw narrative rarely seen in local cinema.
Director Mehedi Hassan Hridoy confirmed that around 80 percent of the film’s shooting has already been completed. The unit is scheduled to return to Dhaka on February 5, with the remaining portions set to be filmed by mid-February. Post-production work, including editing, is currently underway alongside the shoot.
The makers are planning to release “Rakkhosh” in cinemas during Eid-ul-Fitr.
