Popular actor Apurba is a household name for drama lovers in Bangladesh. After his brilliant performance in "Boro Chele", the actor made a place for himself in the hearts of the Bangladeshi audience.

Recently, the actor spoke with The Daily Star about this year's FIFA World Cup.

"I have always enjoyed playing games since my childhood," he shared. "Whether it was football or cricket, I loved both the sports. I remember spending my days, during my childhood, in Mohammadpur's Iqbal Road. Over there, we would play football in a field, for hours on end."

"Whenever I sit in front of the TV and watch football, those sweet memories of Iqbal road flashes before my eyes. Those were really cheerful days, and it still feels like it was just yesterday," added Apurba.

When asked who he would be supporting for this year's World Cup, Apurba responded, "After four years of wait, the World Cup is here again and I am supporting my favourite team, from my childhood, which is Brazil."

"I'll watch the World Cup this time as well. However, watching the matches always reminds me of my father. Watching the World Cup without him always weighs heavy on my heart. Since my childhood, I have always seen my father support Brazil," said the artiste. "I followed in his footsteps and became a Brazil supporter as well. We would have a great time watching the World Cup together. Now, sadly, he is no longer with us. So, I will have to watch the matches without him. It's painful to think about and I will miss my father very much."

When asked what, in particular, he likes about the Brazil national football team, the actor shared "Brazil's game has a different rhythm, a different style of its own. Winning or losing are common in sports, and no one knows who will take the trophy in the end. As a Brazil supporter, I also want my favourite team to win. My best wishes are always with the Brazil team."

Asked for his advice on how supporters should deal with the banter amongst each other, Apurba said, "Supporters of different teams should not fight amongst themselves, over a game. I would like to tell my fans to watch the game in a beautiful environment and to maintain peace amongst each other."
