Flood: Bodies of 5 missing recovered in Rangamati

The flood triggered by heavy rainfall on hills has killed five people in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati.

The bodies of four children and a young man were recovered from different areas in two days till Friday, our Rangamati correspondent reports, quoting Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rumana Akhter.

The UNO said the body of Kawla Tripura, 35, was recovered from the river bank in Machalong Dipupara area . Rahul Barua's, 10, body was recovered from Karangatli area while bodies of Jewel, 7, Juni Chakma, 7, and Sajek Menuka Chakma, 7, were recovered from Ugalchhhari beel.

She said 2,000 people of low-lying areas of Baghaichhari are still under water. Besides, there are about 900 people in the shelter.

Earlier, the five victims went missing in Baghaichhari on Tuesday and Wednesday after they were washed away by the onrush of upstream waters from the surrounding hills.
