Lightning kills 2 in Sylhet

Two people were killed in lightning strike while fishing in a haor in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet this morning.

The deceased are Pranesh Biswas (26) and Digesh Biswas (21), residents of Dakkhin Ranikhai of the upazila.

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge KM Nazrul confirmed the incident.

Quoting locals, the OC said Pranesh and Digesh were struck by lightning around 9:00am while fishing in Futadhari haor. The locals took them to a nearby hospital but on duty doctor declared them dead.

The bodies were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the OC said.
