Ensure access to parks, playgrounds for all: green activists
Environment activists today called upon the authorities to open the grounds and parks in the capital, which have remained closed due to renovation works for long, to public immediately.
The demand came at a sit-in programme, jointly organised by 17 environmental organisations, held in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh this morning.
They also urged the authorities to complete the renovation works of those.
Ziaur Rahman, senior project manager at Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust, said several parks and udyans, including Suhrawardy udyan, Osmani udyan, Panthakunja, and Fazle Rabbi parks, have remained closed.
"In addition, several parks and grounds are grabbed by different clubs. Citizens cannot enter those. We also demand that the authorities open the parks and playgrounds to the public immediately," he said.
