Rooppur will transform power sector: Salehuddin Ahmed
Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed today said Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) will play a revolutionary role in Bangladesh’s power sector.
He noted that the project will not only meet the country’s growing electricity demand but also strengthen energy security and contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Salehuddin, who also serves as science and technology adviser, made the remarks while visiting the plant to observe preparations for nuclear fuel loading at the country’s first nuclear power facility.
During the visit, the adviser inspected the current state of construction and sought detailed updates on the progress of various phases, the project officials said.
The adviser also engaged in a discussion meeting with the engineers regarding technical implementation and the operational roadmap of the plant.
Expressing satisfaction, the adviser praised the officials’ round-the-clock dedication to the project.
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is now in its final stage of construction, adhering to international safety standards. The nuclear fuel loading process is expected to begin soon.
Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Finance Division Secretary Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain, and Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky accompanied the adviser during the visit.
