Mobile app launched for nurses
The health minister inaugurated an application software named "Surokkha Covid-19 Vaccine Prodan App" at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital around noon yesterday.
After that, several media also reported that the Surokkha app was available for mass use for the registration of Covid-19 vaccine. However, the reality was otherwise.
The Surokkha mobile app for Covid-19 vaccine registration was supposed to launch in late January.
On Wednesday night, the health ministry notified about yesterday's event saying that Health Minister Zahid Maleque "would be inaugurating Surokkha app" yesterday.
After the inauguration, however, it was learned that the app was not for vaccine registration. It was the "Surokkha Covid-19 Vaccine Prodan App" for nurses to use at the vaccination centres.
Using the app, the nurses at the vaccination centers can scan the QR codes on vaccine cards after vaccinating people, and the report will automatically be uploaded to the server.
While inaugurating the app, the minister said, "Through this app, our Covid-19 vaccination programme's capability has gone one step further."
Contacted with the official concerned of the DGHS, he said, "The app is for the employees involved in the vaccination campaign. On the other hand, the work of the Surokkha vaccine registration app is not complete yet."
According to the officials, the DGHS has provided necessary additional information again on Wednesday as per Google's requirement.
Once Google approves, the app will be available on its Play Store.
Earlier, officials said the app would be available on February 4 for mass use.
Now, people are registering on www.surokkha.gov.bd website to get Covid-19 vaccines.
As of yesterday afternoon, more than 28 lakh people registered to get vaccines.
