159 Covid-19 deaths, 6,566 new cases reported in a day

One hundred and fifty-nine people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 24,878 and the death rate stands at 1.72 percent.

At least 6,566 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,47,210, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 17.64 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.91 percent.

A total of 37,226 samples were tested across the country during the period.

At least 10,153 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 13,37,181 and the recovery rate stands at 92.40 percent.  

Among the 159 deceased, 76 were men and 83 were women.

Of them, one was between 0-10 years old, two were within 11-20 years, three were between 21-30, 12 between 31-40, 20 between 41-50, 35 between 51-60, 39 between 61-70, 33 within 71-80, 14 between 81-90, added the release.
