Nine die in Covid units of 2 Khulna hospitals in 24 hours

Nine patients died while undergoing treatment at the Covid units of two Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8am today.

The hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and Gazi Medical College Hospital. 

Infection rate in the district is 20.40 percent, reports our Khulna correspondent.

Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at KMCH, said seven died of coronavirus in the hospital in 24 hours till this morning.

A total of 118 people were undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid unit till 8:00am today. Of them, 47 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 40 in yellow zone, 11 are in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 20 at intensive care unit (ICU).

Thirty-three patients were admitted at the unit in 24 hours till this morning and 39 were discharged from the hospital.

Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, two patients died at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8am.

Besides, 50 patients were receiving treatment during this time at the hospital's Covid unit. Of them, seven were in ICU and three in HDU, he added.

No one died at the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital in 24 hours and also no new patient was admitted to the unit during the period, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Kazi Abu Rashed.

Twenty-seven people are now undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said.

Only one person was admitted to Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital's Covid unit in the 24 hours. Total 36 patients are receiving treatment there at present, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath.

In Khulna City Medical College, seven people were admitted to the Covid unit during the period. With them, total 63 were undergoing treatment at the unit.
