Ranjan Gogoi will be India's next CJ

Justice Ranjan Gogoi will be the new Chief Justice of India's Supreme Court. He will assume the office on October 3 after the retirement of the current Chief Justice Justice Dipak Misra. Hailing from Assam, Justice Gogoi will be the first Chief Justice of India from a north eastern state. He has also been dealing with the issue of National Register of Citizens in Assam.
