NCP claims BNP attack injured Nasiruddin, Sarjis and others in Habiganj
At least 10 leaders and activists of the National Citizen Party (NCP), along with journalists, were injured after local leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) allegedly attacked an NCP procession in Habiganj this afternoon, NCP ha claimed.
Speaking to The Daily Star, NCP Central Joint Secretary Pritam Das alleged that local BNP leaders and activists ambushed a convoy carrying NCP leaders Nasiruddin Patwary and Sarjis Alam during the programme.
He claimed that both Nasiruddin and Sarjis were injured in the attack.
Pritam further alleged that the attackers entered the Habiganj District Circuit House and vandalised a microbus used by the NCP media team.
"They did not stop at damaging the vehicle; they also took away mobile phones and cameras," he said, adding that the party had obtained video footage showing the vandalism.
The BNP could not immediately be reached for comments on the allegations.
Authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
