Three Shadows of Art
A solo art exhibition, of Md. Rashed Alam, titled Three Shadows of Art, has been inaugurated at Alliance Française de Dhaka's La Galerie. In his first solo exhibition, Md. Rashed Alam is presenting three types of artworks that he experimented on: dualism paintings, sculptures and miniatures.
His dualism paintings present the viewers with a unique view of the canvas. These paintings showcase different chronological aspects when viewed from the left and the right side. Human figures and their inherent shapes have a great influence in his sculptures. A 'sinfonia' of age and different states is sometimes apparent in them. Alam will also exhibit some of his miniatures which came out from carving pencil leads, paintbrushes or even hand tools like hammer.
The artist has presented portraits in the form of miniature sculptures. He carved the wooden handles of paintbrushes into miniature portraits of Da Vinci, Matisse, Picasso, Dali and Orwell. These miniature sculptures, having been held atop the upright brushes, remind us of memorial sculptures.
The exhibition will be open to all till 15 April, 2016.Visiting hours: Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 12pm and 5pm to 8pm (closed on Sunday).
