Alliance Française de Dhaka Presents “Untold Story” — A Group Exhibition Exploring Stories Beyond Words

Alliance Française de Dhaka is set to present *Untold Story*, a group exhibition curated by Fareha Zeba, opening on 1 September 2026 at 6:00 PM at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka. The opening will be attended by Frédéric Inza, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of France in Bangladesh, and Tanvir Ahmed, Managing Director, Sheltech Group & Envoy Legacy, as Guests of Honour.

The exhibition brings together artist books and contemporary artworks that explore the intimate and often unspoken dimensions of human experience. Through painting, drawing, collage, stitching, textiles, found materials and experimental book forms, the participating artists engage with themes of memory, identity, heritage, loss, longing and lived experience, transforming personal narratives into visual and material forms.

At the heart of *Untold Story* is the artist’s book—not simply as an object to be read, but as an intimate artistic space. The artists use the form to preserve fragments of memory, revisit personal and cultural histories, and give shape to experiences that may resist conventional language. The exhibition extends beyond the pages of the books, with related works bringing these narratives into the gallery and creating a shared space where private memories can resonate collectively.

The exhibition features Fareha Zeba, Esha Ahmed, Fouzia Mahin Choudhury, Kazmin Samia, Shulekha Chaudhury, Sumana Akter and Surovi Akter, alongside guest artists Alia Kamal, Arpita Singha, Mahmuda Siddika, Rafia Mahjabeen, Rituparna Saha and Venessa Kaiser.

The seven group artists have explored the theme over the course of a year through the form of the artist’s book, while the guest artists have engaged with the theme over a shorter period. Their varied approaches reflect the diverse ways in which memory and experience can be recorded, reinterpreted and expressed.

Rather than presenting a single narrative, *Untold Story* embraces fragmentation, difference and the spaces between what is revealed and what remains concealed. It invites audiences to consider how personal stories, even when deeply individual, can echo experiences shared by many.

The exhibition will run from 1-9 September 2026 at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka, located at 26 Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The exhibition is open to all and can be visited daily from 3:00-9:00 PM.
