SIR MATT BUSBY

Sir Alexander Matthew "Matt" Busby was a Scottish football player and manager, who led Manchester United Football Club between 1945 and 1969 and again from 1970 to 1971 seasons. Before going to the Manchester United Football Club, Busby was a player for two of United's greatest rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool. During his time at City, Busby played in two FA Cup Finals, winning one of them.

"I never wanted Manchester United to be second to anybody. Only the best would be good enough.

In all modesty, my summing up of 1955-6 and 1956-7 must be that no club in the country could live with Manchester United.

I do not worry about conceding goals because I know my forwards will double it at the other end.

Manchester is my Heaven."
