'Repression day' at RU
Teachers and students of Rajshahi University yesterday urged the government to conduct proper investigation into the law enforcers' atrocities during the campus unrest on August 22-23 in 2007.
Wearing black badges, several hundred teachers and students yesterday observed 'Student-Teacher Repression Day' on the campus and announced two-day protest programme on the occasion.
They formed a large human chain in front of the central library and held a protest rally there demanding withdrawal of all the false cases filed against RU teachers and students.
They also demanded compensation to family of the rickshaw puller who was 'killed by law enforcers' on August 23, 2007 in front of RU Medical Centre.
Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Zahan Sajal, Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar Tapu, Prof Moloy Bhowmik, Prof Dulal Chandra Biswas and Bangladesh Chhatra League RU unit General Secretary Ayeen Uddin addressed the rally.
