Guardian taken to task

Police yesterday arrested Sharif Uddin, guardian of a student, from his house at Hujrapur for threatening the principal and teachers of Chapainawabganj Government Technical School and College on Saturday. Superintendent of Police (SP) Nazrul Hossain said, the arrest followed filing of a general diary by Kafil Uddin, principal of the institute with Sadar police station on Saturday night. Earlier, the college authorities on Saturday called the guardians of two class nine students to inform about 'indecent intimacy' of their wards on the campus. Sharifuddin, father of the male student came to the institute and at a stage of talks at the principal's room hurled abuse at the principal and teachers and threatened them. Protesting his behaviour, the students and teachers brought out a procession in the town and submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner on Sunday demanding punishment of the guardian.
