Nine sued in Satkhira on war crime charges
Nine alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces have been sued on charges of killing and looting in Sadar upazila in 1971.
Murshid Ali Mollah, son of slain Momtaz Ali Mollah of village Ellarchar under Sadar upazila, filed a petition case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, accusing the nine of killing his father during the Liberation War.
The accused are Ansar Uddin Sardar and Zafar Biswas of Fingri village, Abdul Karim Sardar and Surat Ali of Shimul Baria village and Ansar Ali Sardar, Fazar Ali, Atiar Rahman, Shahar Ali and Dukhe Gazi of Balitha village under the upazila.
In the petition, the complainant stated that the accused picked up his father from their house on May 25, 1971, took him to Darar canal area at Shimulbaria and killed him.
He further alleged that the accused also took away valuables from their house.
Judge AKM Samsul Arefin asked the officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station to accept the petition as first information report (FIR) and filed a case against the accused after proper investigation.
