Another victim dies, none arrested yet
One more victim of Thursday's gun attack by outlaws in Rajbari died yesterday at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
With the death of Zahir Hasan Ferdous, the death toll in the incident rose to four. Ferdous, secretary of Barat Union Parishad (UP) went to attend the Iftar programme at the youth club at Urakanda bazar in Sadar upazila on the day where the attack was made.
Son of women affairs secretary of Rajbari district unit Awami League (AL) Fatema Kaniz Hira, Zahir received severe bullet injuries during the attack.
He was admitted to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital (FMCH) and on Saturday shifted to DMCH as his condition deteriorated.
The attack left three people including two local AL leaders and a night guard of Barat UP dead on the spot. They are general secretary of Barat union unit AL Abdus Salam Mollah, 42, vice president Golam Mohammad, 46, and night guard Saidur Rahman, 30.
An AL activist is still undergoing treatment at FMCH.
A group of outlawed party men carried out the killing. Dispute with the outfit over capturing a vast tract of sand quarry in the Padma besides establishment of supremacy in the areas concerned prompted the killing, sources said.
The law enforcement agencies are yet to arrest any of the killers even after three days of the incident.
Soneka Khatun, wife of slain AL leader Abdus Salam filed a case with Sadar police station accusing 25 unknown people on Saturday night.
