The law enforcers have rescued a 12-year-old boy three days into his abduction from Moulvibazar and arrested three of a gang of five. Biplob Mishra, son of Ranjit Mishra, a trader in Khejurbag area of south Keraniganj, Dhaka, was abducted by the gang for ransom from Keraniganj on Saturday. Police quoted family sources as saying that the gang picked up Biplob, a class six student of Keraniganj Islamia Government High School, while he was returning home from his school in the afternoon. Biplob's father Ranjit Mishra told this correspondent that he informed Rab-10 officials in Dhaka of the matter after the abductors phoned him the same day demanding Tk 2 crore ransom for release of his son. They also threatened to kill his son if the amount was not paid, he added. Amulya Kumar Chawdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Moulvibazar Model Police Station, said Rab-10 traced the location of Biplab in Mukambazar area of Moulvibazar by mobile phone tracking and informed them. Accordingly, police with the help of local UP Chairman Jamshed Ahmed, raided a house of one Shah Harun of Mukambazar area yesterday morning and rescued Biplob from there, he said. Police also arrested three abductors--Nurul Islam Tushar, a student of class ten of Open University, Anisur Rahman, a BBA student of a private university, and Debashis Poddar, a student of Sumona Medical College--on the spot. Two other abductors--Hridoy and Farhad--managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcers. Biplob was handed over to his father Ranjit Mishra yesterday noon. A case was filed with Moulvibazar Model Police Station.
