Outsiders raid KMC day after assault on principal

Outsider Jubo League and Chhatra League activists backed by a medical officer yesterday raided Khulna Medical College (KMC) campus and the hospital compound. The act of flexing muscles with clubs apparently targeted the KMC students and intern doctors who had given a call for indefinite class boycott from yesterday and for two-hour work stoppage everyday to press home their demand for removal of the aforesaid medical officer of KMCH. The medical officer assaulted college Principal KP Sarker on Monday noon in the office room of KMCH Superintendent Dr Hamid Asgar following a brawl over the medical officer's alleged issuance of a fake medical certificate the day before. The alleged attacker is also senior vice president of Khulna district unit of Awami League-backed Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad. Reacting to the attack on their principal, KMC students on Monday afternoon damaged chairs, tables, computer sets, telephone sets and flower vases and windowpanes of a number of rooms of the college.
