RU Shibir leader arrested

Police yesterday arrested a leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) on charge of attacking a police camp in Binodpur Bazar near Rajshahi University (RU) on May 23. The arrestee, Ekramul, is the president of Shibir Sayeed Amir Ali Hall unit. Motihar police arrested him in front of the dormitory at around 3:00pm. Tofazzel Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Motihar Police Station, told newsman that they arrested Ekramul in two cases filed against Shibir leaders and activists for attacking police camp and policemen on the day. On May 23, Shibir men attacked the police camp and clashed with the law enforcers at Binodpur Bazar. At least 20 people, including 10 cops, were injured during the clash. Following the incident, two separate cases were filed with Motihar Police Station against Shibir leaders and activists.
