7 Destiny men sent to jail in Bandarban

Bandarban Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday rejected bail prayers of seven field workers of Destiny Tree Plantation Limited and sent them to jail. Earlier, Destiny garden supervisor Harunur Rashid, Humayun Kabir, Khairul Alam, Shiblu Rahman, Anowar Hossain, Abul Hossain and Nurul Islam surrendered before the court. Police said Divisional Forest Officer (DFP) of Lama recently filed a case with Lama Police Station, accusing 70 Destiny people of damaging forest resources at Alekkhong Mouza in Naikhongchhari upazila last month. In the case, the DFO claimed that the accused felled trees and damaged forest goods of around Tk 6 crore. In the case, it was alleged that about 70 people, including the aforesaid seven, were involved in the illegal activities.
