Crimes in six Khagrachhari Upazilas rise

People of eight upazilas of Khagrachhari district feel insecure as incidents of killing, abduction and extortion are on the rise. According to police sources, four people were killed and 40 others were injured in 12 clashes in the last 30 days (from August 10 to September10) while four abduction and six extortion cases were recorded with different police station of the upazilas during the period. Those killed in clashes were Pervez Al Mamun of Matiranga upazila, Saleha Begum of Dighinala upazila, Nasima Begum of Panchhari upazila, and Panay Mala Tripura of Mohalchhari upazila. Pervez was killed on August 10, Saleha Begum on August 17, Nasima on August 18 and Panay Mala on September 3. From July 10 to August 9, two abduction and one extortion cases were recorded with different police station of the upazilas and 25 people were injured in clashes, sources said.
