2 Jubo League men held on mugging charge

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two Jubo League men on mugging charge in Bagmara upazila early yesterday. The arrestees are Sirajul Iftekhar Mithu, organising secretary of Bagmara upazila Jubo League, and party activist M Shahjahan. Rab personnel arrested Mithu and Shahjahan, raiding several areas in Bagmara and later handed them over to the police. Locals said a gang of four led by Mithu waylaid vegetable vendor Rafiqul Islam while he was returning home from a local market at around 9:00pm on Saturday and took away Tk 2,970 from him. Rafiqul complained to a Rab patrol team that reached the spot after a few minutes and lodged a mugging case with Bagmara Police Station.
