Attack on puja mandop

Miscreants attacked a puja mandop at Bangaon village under Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon district early yesterday. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Haripur Police Station told this correspondent over cellphone that a gang of miscreants attacked the puja mandop at around 4:30am and destroyed an image of Kartik. Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) said local administration has taken all security measures in and around the mandop so that Hindu devotees can celebrate the upcoming Durga puja smoothly. Puja Udjapan Parishad General Secretary Advocate Indronath has strongly protested the incident and urged the authorities concerned to arrest the persons involved.
