BDR rescues three from traffickers on Kurigram border

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel rescued three members of a family while they were being trafficked to India by a gang of traffickers through Anandapur border under Fulbari upazila of the district early yesterday. The rescued people are Ashraful, 35, his wife Rahena Khatun, 25 and daughter Ashamoni, 5 of Rangamati village under the upazila. According to BDR and police sources, a BDR patrol team of Anantapur border outpost rescued the three from border pillar no 948 when they were being trafficked to India by a gang led by one Hasan Ali of Anandapur village at around 2:30am Sensing the presence of the paramilitary troops, Hasan and his accomplice fled the scene. BDR personnel later took the three to Fulbari Police Station and handed them over to the police. In another drive, BDR men of Gangarhat border outpost arrested a man near Gangarhat border at around 10:30pm on Wednesday and recovered 16 bottles of phensidyl syrup from his possession. The arrestee, Tajul Islam, son of Abdus Sattar of Biddananda village under Fulbari upazila, was handed over to Fulbari police yesterday morning. Two separate cases were filed with the police station concerned.
