Husband beats wife to death

A housewife and mother of five children was beaten to death allegedly by her husband at Dakkhin Titpara village of Dimla upazila in Nilphamari district yesterday as she objected his illicit relation with another woman. Mominul Islam of Dakkhin Titpara village developed an illicit relation with his neighbour's wife, sources said. Following his wife Momina Begum's serious objection to the immoral affair, the couple would often quarrel. But Mominul continued the affair in the face of his wife's interference. Yesterday morning, they engaged in an altercation over the matter. At one stage, Mominul got furious and started beating her up. Momina sustained serious injuries and her condition began to deteriorate. Mominul poured poison into her mouth and tried to make people around believe that she took poison to commit suicide, said the neighbours. When Momina was being taken to Dimla Upazila Health Complex at noon, she died on the way. Preparation was on to file a case in this connection when this report was being filed. The gruesome murder of a mother of five children has created sensation in the area.
