AL, jubo league sue 48 rival party activists

Awami League and Jubo League Bera pourasava units on Sunday night filed case and counter case with local police station, accusing 48 leaders and activists of both the organisations of their involvement in Saturday's incident that left an AL activist killed 20 others injured. Police said Jubo League activist Islam Bepari of Chhoto Paina village filed a case against 33 AL men including Bera pourasava unit President Manu Mannan. In the case, the complainant claimed that the accused launched an attack on them, leaving one person killed and 20 others injured. Awami League activist Abdul Baset Bachchu filed a counter case with the same police station the same night against 15 Jubo League leaders and activists. In the case statement, Baset alleged that the accused Jubo League men attacked local AL men, killing one of their activists on the spot and injuring 20 others. Bera police recorded the cases On Saturday, Awami League and Jubo League activists clashed at Chhoto Paina village under Bera Municipality over taking control of the area, leaving AL activist Azizul Haque, 36, dead and 20 others injured. Sources said the long-drawn feud between the two groups surfaced anew in recent weeks. None of the accused in both the cases was arrested as of filing of this report at 4:00pm yesterday. Additional police have been deployed at Chhoto Paina village to avert any further clash.
