SUST students asked to vacate halls

Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST) authorities have asked the students to vacate their dormitories by 2 pm today. The instruction followed a decision taken at an emergency meeting of the SUST Syndicate on Sunday afternoon. The decision was taken with a view to ending the ongoing clashes on the campus between the rival factions of the ruling party backed student front, an official said. Police arrested three cadres of the Chhatra League (BCL) last week and recovered firearms from their possession after a faction captured a few rooms of Hajrat Shahporan Hall. The authorities on Sunday also deferred the date for resuming the academic activities from October 4 to October 8.
