3 JP men hurt in AL attack

Three local leaders of Jatiya Party (JP) were injured as Awami League men attacked them at Baliadangi Bazar in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district yesterday. The victims are Abul Kashem, member secretary of Baliadangi upazila unit of JP, Md Alifur Rahman Alif, former general secretary, and Shamsuddin Ahmed, former agricultural secretary of the same unit. A meeting of upazila JP was scheduled to be held at the house of upazila JP convenor Nurun Nahar at 11:00am yesterday, district unit Jatiya Party General Secretary Sultanul Ferdous Nomro, also Thakurgaon Sadar upazila chairman, said. As we were preparing to start the meeting, a group of Awami League and Jubo League men led by Ayub Ali and Mohammad Ali attacked and injured our three leaders, Nomro said, adding that Mohammad Ali's previous enmity with Nurun Nahar might act behind the incident. Mohammad Ali is the brother of local Awami League lawmaker Dabirul Islam.
