12 get life for BCL leader murder

Additional district and sessions judge Ekramul Haque Chowdhury yesterday sentenced 12 people to life term imprisonment and fined Tk 30,000 each, in default to suffer one more year in jail for killing a local BCL leader. The convicts are Rupton Mia, Polash, Mukhlesur Rahaman, Sadek Mia, Abul Kashem, Bazlur Rahman, Jahan, Saiful Islam, Rial, Milon, Jamaluddin and Nayan Mia of village Muktir Bazar under Netrakona Sadar upazila. According to the prosecution story, on February 21 in 2004, the aforesaid people killed BCL leader Sujon, son of Ali Haider of the same village with sharp weapons. Kulsuma Akhter, mother of Sujon filed a killing case with Netrakona Sadar police station accusing 12 people. On investigation, police submitted charge sheet against all the accused. The judge after examining the witnesses and evidences, found them guilty and pronounced the verdict.
